Every beginning deserves to be nurtured.

Doula Services in Grand Rapids, MI

Through Nurtured Beginnings, I walk alongside mothers with steady, compassionate care, creating space for you to feel confident, supported, and truly held as you welcome your baby.

Hi, I’m Ana! Wife, mom, and trained doula behind Nurtured Beginnings.

My heart for this work grew from my own experience with motherhood and the deep need for support during pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum days. I know how powerful it is to feel calm, informed, and truly cared for in those moments, and how overwhelming it can feel without that support.

As your doula, my role is to walk alongside you. I offer steady guidance, emotional support, and a peaceful presence so you can move through your birth and early motherhood feeling confident, supported, and never alone.

I believe every mother deserves to feel heard, respected, and nurtured as she steps into this new beginning. It’s an honor to be invited into such a meaningful season of life and to support families as they grow.

A calm, knowledgeable presence - start to finish.

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained, non-medical guide who supports you emotionally, physically, and with information before, during, and after birth. I don't replace your doctor or midwife - I walk beside you, so you never feel alone or unsure.

  • Emotional support

A calm, reassuring presence and a steady voice when things feel big or uncertain.

  • Physical comfort

Hands-on comfort - positions, breathing, counter-pressure - to help you feel at ease.

  • Information & guidance

Clear answers so you understand your options and feel confident in your choices.

What to expect when we work together

How we'll work together

From the first message to those early days with your baby, here's the simple path we'll walk — so you always know what comes next.

1
Reach out

Send a note through the contact form with a little about your pregnancy, and we'll go from there.

2
We plan together

No plan yet? That's okay - we'll shape one together, talking through your questions and what matters most to you.

3
I'm on call for your birth

From 38 weeks, I'm on call. When contractions start, you let me know, and I'm with you through labor and at your birth.

4
After your baby arrives

I make sure you're comfortable, recovering well, and that no question goes unanswered - however that looks for you.

Our Services

Every birth is different, so I offer two ways to be supported. Both include continuous, hands-on support during your labor and birth - they differ in how much preparation beforehand and follow-up afterward you'd like.

  • Steady, continuous support through labor and delivery.

    • A prenatal planning session to prepare together

    • Continuous support through your entire labor & birth

    • On-call for you from 38 weeks until baby arrives

    • Phone & text support all through your pregnancy

Best for families who want a calm, experienced presence through labor and delivery.

  • Everything in Essentials, plus extra preparation and a visit after baby.

    • A second prenatal visit - birth prep, comfort techniques, partner support & your birth preferences

    • An in-home postpartum follow-up - recovery, feeding & newborn questions

Best for families who want more preparation beforehand and support settling in at home.

If you’re unsure which option is the best fit, I’m happy to connect and talk through what kind of support would feel most helpful for you.

Common doula questions

  • No. A midwife provides your medical care and delivers your baby; a doula is your non-medical support around that care. The two work beautifully together.

  • Absolutely. Doula support helps with every kind of birth - medicated, unmedicated, hospital, home, or birth center - by keeping you supported and informed throughout.

  • Completely. I never replace your partner - I help them feel confident and involved, and I'm an extra set of hands so you're both cared for.

  • Birth can be unpredictable, and that's okay. If things shift, I stay right beside you, calm and focused on what you need.
